Sing to the Lord a new Song! (Ps 96)
The Chancel Choir rehearses weekly and sings during services 2-3 times per month throughout the academic year, plus at special events like the Verona Community Ecumenical Service, the Christmas program, and our Winter benefit concert. Their music covers a wide range of styles and periods, occasionally including longer works such as Schubert’s Mass in G and Requiems by Rutter and others.
Chancel choir is open to adults & teenagers who want to join their voice with others.
Rehearsals on Wednesday evenings from 7-8 pm, and at 9:30am on the Sundays they sing.
Barry Robinson Chorus
Currently self-directed and accompanied by Julie Sundby, this choir was created by Barry Robinson a gifted musician, devout Christian, and beloved member of our congregation for low-voice singers (Tenor, Bass). Originally dubbed the Back Row Chorus, the BRC was renamed in honor of Barry. This slightly immature group sings in worship at least once each month. Rehearsals for this group are 9AM every Sunday morning and 6-7 Wednesday evenings (sometimes they actually find time to sing).
All children of the congregation and community are welcome to join this musical experience, led by Kelli Maleug and Kari Westphal. Music opens the Sunday School morning during the academic year at 9AM, the children learn new songs, movements, and then get to sing during service every few months.
On the occasional Sunday, the congregation will have a "call out your favorite" hymns sing in lieu of a sermon or choir music. Come and give a shout!
We often have members of the congregation who want to offer their talents as part of the worship service. Our congregation invites and welcomes individuals to help lead worship through singing and playing. This is usually coordinated with the Music Director – Dawn Lingard. If you have an interest in sharing in this way, please don’t hesitate to offer your gifts. Sometimes the choirs like to listen to someone else!
This is an opportunity where all of our musical groups help lead worship, highlighting our program year & generally takes place in the spring.
